Your Gift Can Help Build a Human Services LegacyThe Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus is a model of caring and efficiency - something everyone in our area can be proud of. By working together, the five agencies are saving more than $11 million dollars in construction costs and hundreds of thousands of dollars in operational costs. ![]() Most importantly, the Lakin Campus will enable each agency to achieve more with our community's most vulnerable residents. Through high levels of collaboration and improved facilities children, families and individuals will be able to access world-class services in one location. For example, a family that has suffered through a house fire often needs assistance from both The American Red Cross and The Salvation Army. Having them in one location helps the family save time and money, and eliminates one major barrier for many families who receive services from multiple agencies: transportation. ![]() Another great example is the collaboration between The Boys & Girls Club, which is new to Council Bluffs, and the other agencies. Residents of the MICAH House and Heartland Family Service's transitional housing will have a safe place to send their kids after school for help with homework and social activities; The Salvation Army will conduct youth programming together with the Boys & Girls Club and will share a gymnasium. The American Red Cross will offer referrals to the Boys & Girls Club and will also conduct programming with their staff. Your gift will be processed by the Omaha Community Foundation and placed directly into the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus fund.
